London - Soccer legend George Best was in hospital last night after suffering stomach pains.
His personal assistant, Mr Philip Hughes, said the former Manchester United and Northern Ireland star was spending a second night in the Cromwell Hospital, west London, where tests were being carried out.
He confirmed a story in today's Sun new spaper that Best is unwell but denied a suggestion that he was fighting for his life.
"He may be in hospital for a few days or could be out as soon as tomorrow.
He isn't well, but it's not life threatening - at least I hope not."
Mr Hughes said Best (53), had made the appointment a week ago and attended hospital yesterday when it was agreed he would stay in for a few days.
The Sun quoted Best's wife Alex (27), as saying: "He is in hospital and looks terrible. We're all worried about him."
No immediate comment was available from the hospital.
