George Best has described Manchester United's plight as "a shambles" and has questioned Alex Ferguson's policy of regularly resting players.
The former Manchester United and Northern Ireland star believes United could end up without a trophy this season after another dismal performance on Saturday. United lost their sixth league game of the campaign at home to West Ham.
Best questioned Ferguson's decision to rest star players Juan Sebastian Veron and Ruud van Nistelrooy - and leave England captain David Beckham on the bench.
He told the Mirror: "I just don't understand why he's resting players. They are paid so well and there are 67,000 people screaming them on so why do they need a rest.
"I can understand resting players if they are injured, but not otherwise. It just doesn't make sense in my opinion. You need your best players out there doing it for you week in, week out.
"Everything is going wrong for United at the moment. It's all gone pear-shaped and it's a bit of a shambles," Best said.
