ABERDEEN - An oil man in Shell's Guillemot Field 160 kms from the port of Aberdeen, while checking the base of his rig with a video monitor, recorded a common guillemot at nearly 100 metres under the North Sea, the first ever sighting of a small diving bird at such a depth.
"Humans at the same depth have to hide in diving bells or reinforced suits," a spokesman for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds pointed out.
