France defender Laurent Blanc will today have a medical test at Old Trafford with a view to completing his move to Manchester United.
The 36-year-old centre-half, who is available on a free transfer from Inter Milan, has been lined up as a replacement for Jaap Stam, who joined Lazio for £15.25 million on Monday.
A United spokesman confirmed Blanc was in the country. The Premiership champions must complete his signing before tomorrow if he is to be available for the Champions League this season.
Blanc, a close friend and international team-mate of United goalkeeper Fabien Barthez, has turned down moves to Old Trafford on at least three previous occasions. - PA
