AN BORD Pleanála has deferred a decision due this week on Shell EP Ireland’s application to modify the Corrib gas onshore pipeline route.

The application for a new route and for compulsory acquisition orders to private land on the 9km route was made under the Strategic Infrastructure Act, and resulted in a 19-day oral hearing chaired by inspector Martin Nolan.

An initial decision date had been set as August 10th. However, the appeals board has informed all parties that the decisions will be made on or before October 23rd next, “due to the complex nature of the case”.
