Thomas Dalton (32), Ballingarry, fell overboard from a passenger boat two miles north of Killaloe, Co Clare, last Saturday evening.

Mr Dalton was not wearing a lifejacket.

A search and recovery operation continued all week, and at 7.15am yesterday members of the Killaloe-Ballina Search and Rescue Unit spotted Mr Dalton's body on the surface of the water near the Tipperary shore of the lake at Ryninch, close to where he fell into the water.

Mr Dalton's body was brought to the Midwestern Regional Hospital in Limerick for a post-mortem.

The search of Lough Derg was one of the largest in recent years.

Over 100 people took part and the search involved a helicopter.
