The body of a British tourist has been pulled from a Venice canal, Italian news agency Ansa reported today
Richard John Raynor (23) from Doncaster travelled to Venice with his girlfriend last week to celebrate Valentine's Day but went missing on Wednesday night.
Firefighters recovered his body on Sunday from beneath the Liberty bridge in the northeastern Italian city, Ansa said.
Mr Raynor was identified by his father. An autopsy is to be carried out.
Police have said Mr Raynor and his girlfriend arrived in Venice on Wednesday and went out for dinner. While they were looking for a taxi to go back to the hotel, Mr Raynor went missing.
The next day a couple found his mobile phone and wallet and brought them back to the hotel where the pair had been staying.
