Emergency services have recovered the body of man from the River Lee in Cork.
The man, believed to be in his thirties, is reported to have driven a car through the barrier at George's Quay and into the water shortly before 7.30 a.m.
Several emergency units were called to the scene and the car was eventually lifted from the water by crane.
The man's body was removed from the car and taken by ambulance to the South Infirmary Hospital. A Garda spokesman said the incident was under investigation.
