The woman whose body was found in Longford town nearly three weeks ago has been identified as a 31-year-old Lithuanian. The remains of Jolita Luzeckiene were found behind the offices of an electrical contractor off Kilashee Street on Sunday, March 4th.
Gardaí spoke to her family in Lithuania last night. Her body remains at Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar, and is likely to be repatriated in the coming days.
Gardaí said they had difficulty in identifying the remains of the woman because she had only been living in the town for five months. She was found with head and neck injuries.
While investigating officers are still awaiting toxicology reports from the postmortem, they are confident that her injuries were not related to her death and that she died of natural causes.
