Gardaí searching for missing Cork man Damian O’Brien, who was last seen leaving a party in Dublin’s south inner city more than a week ago, have recovered a body from the Grand Canal in Dublin.
The body was discovered shortly after 1pm today in the water near Baggot Street bridge.
A Garda spokesman confirmed a man's body had been found but said it had yet to be formally identified.
Mr O’Brien (37), from Clonakilty, Co Cork, had an address in Phibsborough, Dublin.
He was last seen by friends just before 11pm on Friday, November 27th, at Percy Place near Baggot Street bridge.
Colleagues of Mr O’Brien became concerned when he did not turn up for work the following Monday morning and failed to contact anybody to explain his absence.
He failed to show the next day for a flight to London. His phone had been turned off as people were trying to contact him over a number of days.
