The eircomleague lurched towards another controversy today when Bohemians launched a formal protest at having to play St. Patrick's Athletic in a re-arranged match tomorrow night.

Bohemians are unhappy about having to play the match just over 48 hours after yesterday's hard-fought FAI Cup semi-final win over Derry, claiming St. Pat's, who haven't played for nine days, will have an unfair advantage. The Dalymount club this morning filed an appeal with the FAI on that basis.

The fixture was originally scheduled for March 19th, but last Tuesday league authorities informed Bohemians that, unless the semi-final went to a replay, the match would be switched to March 12th.

"I've heard reports that Bohemians have lodged an appeal with the FAI" said eircomLeague Commissioner Roy Dooney, "but I've yet to be informed of it officially. The rulebook, however, is quite clear that no fixtures, re-scheduled or otherwise, can be subjected to appeal."
