Racing: Connections of Teofilo are growing in confidence as the Stan James 2000 Guineas swiftly approaches.
Jim Bolger's long-time ante-post favourite for the one-mile Classic suffered a minor setback last week but delighted his handler in a serious piece of work at the weekend.
"I'm very happy with him and he worked exceptionally well on Saturday morning for Kevin Manning over six and a half furlongs on our wood-chip gallop," Bolger explained.
"I'd have respect for all of them but at the moment I'm just concentrating on getting my horse to Newmarket in the best possible condition, and if I can do that I'll be very happy going there.
"Until he has a couple of weeks behind him and is well and truly out of it you never know, but it's a case of so far so good with him," Bolger told the Racing Post.
"I had him ready before the setback and I was very happy after his work at the weekend."
Teofilo yesterday appeared along with 29 others in the remaining confirmations for Saturday's feature at Newmarket.
There were no shock absentees for a race in which Teofilo is likely to be joined by stablemate Slaney Time, who could be asked to make the running at the weekend.
"He's a front-runner," added Bolger, "and the plan is to run him also. David Moran will ride."
