A roadside bomb ripped through a vehicle in a convoy of Nato troops outside the western Afghan city of Herat today.
A Nato spokeswoman said troops suffered some casualties in the attack, which happened as the convoy passed over a bridge.
The incident, part of rising violence in recent months by suspected Taliban fighters, prompted the troops to seal off the bridge briefly.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility, though the Taliban have been behind most of the attacks against Afghan and foreign forces.
