Diyarbakir - A bomb exploded in a cake shop and wounded 16 people yesterday in Turkey's mainly Kurdish south-east, the main arena for operations by Kurdish separatists led by condemned guerrilla chief Abdullah Ocalan.
A security official said a man in his mid-20s left a package in the shop in the city of Van, a traditional stronghold of support for the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). The man said he would return but shortly afterwards, there was a large explosion, the official said.
