A small bomb has exploded outside the Australian High Commission building in Malaysia's capital but caused no injuries or damage.
The device was hurled from a passing car in Kuala Lumpur at around 4.50 a.m.. Police said it was a small plastic explosive. No one has been arrested or claimed responsibility for the attack.
The attack is the first on a foreign embassy in mainly Muslim Malaysia and comes a week after Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi scored a landslide win in general elections.
Malaysia has tightened security around several Western embassies, including those of Australia, the United States and Britain, since the September 11th, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington.
Australia is a staunch US ally and has sent troops to Afghanistan and Iraq as part of its commitment to the US-led "war on terror".
