Representatives of the families of those who died in the Dublin and Monaghan bombings will meet the Taoiseach at lunchtime.

The meeting is expected to be social rather than official in nature, the campaign group Justice for the Forgotten said.

The executive of Justice for the Forgotten, which represents dead and surviving victims of the bombings, as well as past chairpersons and presidents of the organisation, are expected to attend the brief meeting.

It is not yet known whether Mr Ahern will make any formal comment on the Barron report before its official publication at around 5 p.m. this evening.

Mr Greg O'Neill, solicitor for the families, told ireland.comhe was not aware of the content of the Barron report.

He said the families would receive it at around 5.15 p.m., when it is due to be published by the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Justice. Justice for the Forgotten representatives expect to be in a position to speak to the media by around 5.30 p.m. and the families will hold a press conference at 7.30 p.m.

The report is widely expected to detail alleged collusion between loyalist paramilitaries and the security forces in the bombings.

Justice for the Forgotten has been campaigning for 10 years for a public inquiry into allegations contained in a YTV documentary entitled Hidden Hand - The Forgotten Massacre, which claimed the British army assisted those involved in the bombings. It also claimed the Garda investigation was prematurely wound down.
