Health and beauty retailer Boots is considering a move to sell its branded products in the United States for the first time.
"We are talking to potential partners about a trial to see if the export model can work in the US. No conclusion has been reached but if we do go ahead it would be a very limited trial," a Boots spokesman said.
Boots, which reported a slump in annual profits earlier this month, has tried everything from selling CDs to car parts in recent years in an attempt to boost sales.
Three months ago, the 150-year-old firm said it was closing most of its Wellbeing health services business, which provided beauty treatments and botox injections, as well as other loss-making European operations.
