An agreement between Boots Ireland and the Mandate trade union will see wages for over 1,400 staff rise by 8 to 11 per cent, it was announced today.
Boots Ireland has agreed to provide all grades of staff with a pay increase that will see the basic wage rise by around €1 to €9 per hour.
The wage rises will be rolled out over seven months, and the company is seeking changes in work practices to offset the increases.
Linda Tanham of Mandate said: "It means a greater increase in wages for those in the lower earning grades, with those on the second lowest grade earning 11 per cent more than their current rate.
"What's also significant is that the Boots staff will receive their wage increases in full with immediate effect rather than it being phased in over time," she said.
