Middlesbrough manager Steve McClaren has confirmed the club are in talks with Liverpool over signing Emile Heskey.
The England striker has produced his best form in Liverpool's last three victories, including an outstanding display in the win at Chelsea, and McClaren said this afternoon: "He's someone we are definitely interested in and we are speaking with Liverpool."
But Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier has today denied reports linking Heskey or any other player with a move away from Anfield during the current transfer window.
Houllier said: "There is always speculation and I can't help that. All I can do is tell you what is going to happen. I have said before and I will repeat again. There will be no players leaving the club and no players coming to the club during this transfer window."
Djimi Traore and Milan Baros have also been linked with moves to Premiership clubs.
McClaren, who ruled out a move for Leeds striker Mark Viduka, continued: "Our priority from the beginning of the transfer window has been to bring in another striker."
