With its summery smells of poached gooseberries and cut grass, Errazuriz Estate Sauvignon Blanc 1998 (widely available, £5.49£6.49) is not unlike some of the better new-wave Loire Sauvignons or the high-profile New Zealanders - at about half the price. From the grapes of a single vineyard in Chile's cool Casablanca Valley, this is a wine with perfect poise: smooth and flavoursome with a long, zesty finish. I can't remember ever liking previous vintages of Errazuriz Sauvignon half as much as this one.
Try it and see if you agree.
