Belfast boxer Brian Magee has been denied an opportunity to fight Marcus Beyer for the super-middleweight title, according to the BBC website.
Magee was in line to face Beyer after Australia's Danny Green pulled out of a rematch but the German has now agreed to a voluntary defence against South Africa's Andre Thysee - who was stopped by Magee last year.
Harry Hawkins, Magee's manager, believes the Beyer camp have gone for the easier option, which now leaves Magee time to concentrate on the defence of his IBO belt at the King's Hall in his home town on March 20th.
As part of his preparation Magee intends travelling to the States for an intense three week training and sparring session, while keeping sight of the Beyer fight at a later date.
Magee's impressive professional record of 21 straight wins includes six successful defences, including his last win where he stopped former world champion Hassine Cherifi last November.
