A 15-year-old boy is recovering in hospital after being shot in his ankles in a paramilitary-style attack in Belfast last night.

A police spokesman said the boy was taken from his home in the Lagmore area and shot in an alley off Juniper Way. There were no arrests.

Elsewhere in Belfast, a blast bomb exploded in the back garden of a house in Newington Avenue last night.

The house was empty at the time of the attack, although an oil tank was badly damaged.
