A four-year-old boy who was knocked down by a coal truck on Friday died in a Cork hospital early this morning.
The boy was fighting for his life in Cork University Hospital after the incident at Ardcullen in Knocknaheeney at lunchtime on Friday.
Gardaí today named the boy as Kelvin Purcell from Ardcullen, Hollyhill, Co Cork. He was set to enrol in junior infants on Monday at a primary school in Knocknaheeny.
He was playing with a skateboard when he was knocked down by a lorry delivering coal. The incident was treated as an accident.
