The body of a 13-year-old boy will be exhumed tomorrow as part of a Garda investigation into allegations of sexual and physical abuse at Letterfrack industrial school in Co Galway.

The school which closed over twenty years ago has been the subject of over 100 formal complaints by former pupils alleging sexual and physical abuse at the school during the 60s and 70s.

The 13-year-old boy, who has not been named, died in 1970. His body will be exhumed from a grave in Co Kilkenny and undergo a post-mortem to be conducted to by Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy.

The school, which closed in 1975 now houses a furniture college run by a community-based Connemara company.
