A judge yesterday helped a 12-year-old soccer fan attain his dream to see Manchester United play at Old Trafford.
Sean Cannon-Vaughan, of Ballyogan Wood, Carrick mines, Dublin, was in the Circuit Civil Court to hear his counsel, Mr Gerry Ryan, win him £10,000 compensation for injuries received in a bus accident.
When Mr Justice Esmond Smyth, approved settlement terms from Dublin Bus he asked Sean if he would like a modest pay-out from his award to fund some activity which might aid his recovery.
Sean took only seconds to reply that he would like to see Manchester United play at Old Trafford, and Mr Justice Smyth promptly affirmed a £400 pay-out to finance the trip.
Mr Ryan had told the court that Sean continued to suffer from mild post-traumatic symptoms arising from the crash near Kilmacanogue, Co Wicklow, just over two years ago.
The remainder of the award will be invested by the court on Sean's behalf until he is 18.
