TWO 10-year-old boys, who are just over the age of criminal responsibility in the United Kingdom, have each charged with the rape of an eight-year-old girl in a park in west London last October.
The boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Uxbridge Magistrates Court yesterday. They were released on conditional bail for another hearing before the court on January 28th.
The attack is alleged to have taken place in Hayes. Having returned home from the park, the girl claimed to her parents that she had been assaulted and they immediately called the police.
The allegations were investigated by the Metropolitan Police’s recently reorganised specialist Sapphire Unit, which has made significant progress in a number of alleged rape cases since it was created.
