Builder Mr Tom Brennan has avoided for another week the threat of High Court action arising from an order by the Flood tribunal.

Documents concerning his offshore investments, which were requested by a tribunal order, have arrived in the State, the tribunal heard yesterday. Mr Justice Flood granted an extension until next Tuesday to allow the documents to be reviewed.

Last week he said that unless the required documents were furnished by yesterday morning, he would apply to the High Court for enforcement of the tribunal's order. The order related to Mr Brennan's investments in the Isle of Man and Liechtenstein.

Mr Hugh Millar, solicitor for Binchy and Partners, told the tribunal 12 boxes of documents had arrived from the Isle of Man. He needed time to examine the documents, some of which were not properly referenced, and would submit affidavits to the tribunal as soon as possible. Mr Justice Flood said this seemed like a "common-sense" idea and granted the extension until next Tuesday.
