UCD has announced the establishment of an Institute for British-Irish Studies, the first of its kind in Ireland or Britain. It will conduct research into relations between the two Irish traditions and between Ireland and Britain.
The institute, made possible by a private gift of £360,000, will be located in UCD's politics department but will include academics from a range of disciplines. It will have links with Queen's University Belfast, the London School of Economics, the University of Edinburgh and the University of Wales in Cardiff.
