London - British police arrested seven men thought to be linked to Islamic groups in London yesterday in an antiterrorist operation, security sources said.

The men were detained at addresses in north-west and west London following an operation involving MI5, Special Branch and Scotland Yard's Anti-Terrorist Branch.

It is understood they have links with Mr Osama bin Laden, the Saudi Arabian dissident currently in hiding in Afghanistan and wanted by the US for attacks on its embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. All the men are currently being interviewed at a London police station.
