A policeman, his wife and two of their young sons who died in an apparent "murder-suicide" in England, were named today.
Kent police said the dead officer was Mr Karl Bluestone (36), who joined the county's police force in 1987.
His wife was named as Mrs Jill Bluestone (31) and the dead children are Henry, three, and Chandler, 18 months.
Two children survived, Jack (8) who is in a critical, but stable condition in hospital, and Jessica (7) who escaped with only minor injuries.
Officers found Mrs Bluestone's and her son Henry's body at around 10 p.m. last night after they were called by neighbours to a domestic dispute in Gravesend.
The couple's three other children were rushed to hospital, where 18-month-old Chandler died of his injuries.
Officers discovered Mr Bluestone's body in a detached garage at the back of the house.
A Kent police spokesman said the killings appeared to be "a murder-suicide" but refused to give further details.
"Our officers came round expecting to find a domestic. They were obviously not expecting what they found.
"They were faced with a horrific scene. The victims were in different rooms in the house." Police have stressed that a gun was not used in the deaths and they believe a weapon or instrument of some sort was involved.
