A British soldier has died after being shot while on foot patrol in Afghanistan.
The soldier from the 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers was killed yesterday near Sangin in Helmand Province.
No one else was injured in the incident, which brings to 160 the number of British army soldiers killed in Afghanistan since conflict began in late 2001.
"This true hero paid the ultimate sacrifice and his memory will live with us forever," said army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Nick Richardson.
