Four British soldiers are due to stand trial accused of the manslaughter of an Iraqi civilian.

Four British soldiers are due to stand trial accused of the manslaughter of an Iraqi civilian.

The soldiers - three from the Irish Guards and one from the Coldstream Guards - are accused of causing the death of Ahmed Jabber Kareem.

It is alleged that Mr Kareem drowned after he and three other Iraqis were forced into the Shatt al-Arab waterway in Basra on May 8th, 2003.

The four soldiers charged with Mr Kareem's manslaughter have been named by the Ministry of Defence as Sergeant Carle Selman, then of the Coldstream Guards, now serving with the Scots Guards; Lance Corporal James Cooke; Guardsman Joseph McCleary; and Guardsman Martin McGing - all of the Irish Guards.
