Britvic Ireland today confirmed it is to cut up to 100 jobs nationally across the group’s commercial teams.
In a statement released this evening the company said the move follows the conclusion of a commercial operations review and the unveiling of a new market strategy.
It said the new strategy requires the restructuring of the company’s sales and merchandising teams and increased investment in new product development and marketing as the existing commercial structure is “no longer reflective of market needs”.
As a result the existing sales and merchandising roles will be reconfigured with the loss of approximately 100 jobs.
Britvic Ireland managing director Andrew Richards said the company will remain “actively engaged” with staff and union representatives as the changes are implemented over the coming month.
“I very much regret the unavoidable loss of jobs and I am grateful to departing staff for their contribution over the years,” Mr Richards added.
The company currently employs about 730 staff throughout Ireland with operations in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Thurles and Belfast.
Britvic acquired a number of soft drinks brands from C&C in 2007, including Ballygowan water and Club carbonated drinks and is also home to other brands such as 7UP, Mi Wadi and Robinsons.
