A man whose brother was shot dead on Bloody Sunday today identified a possible IRA gunman who fired towards soldiers after the first victim was killed, the Saville inquiry heard this morning.

Giving evidence to the inquiry Mr Bernard Gilmour did not speak the man's name but gave it to the tribunal written on a piece of paper.

Mr Gilmour, whose brother Hugh (17), was one of the 13 men fatally wounded on Bloody Sunday in 1972 was the second witness to identify the gunman, who was also spotted by former Bishop of Derry Dr Edward Daly.

Last month Mr William Harley (65) gave a name - again written down - which Counsel to the Inquiry Mr Christopher Clarke QC said was the same as that given by Mr Gilmour.

Last month five former members of the Official IRA - from which the Provisional IRA emerged - came forward and areseeking anonymity in order to testify to the inquiry about the activities of paramilitaries in the city that day.
