Steve Bruce is adamant Robbie Savage will stay at Birmingham despite the Welsh midfielder's recent comments about favouring Everton above all else.
The Blues manager confirmed that Everton boss David Moyes has not put in a bid for the 28-year-old who has publicly declared his admiration for the Goodison Park club.
City's co-owner David Sullivan has also admitted the midlands club could offer Savage a new deal at the end of the season in a bid to tie his long-term future to St Andrews.
The manager told the club website, www.bcfc.com: "As far as I'm concerned Robbie Savage is and will remain a Birmingham City player."
Bruce has contacted Moyes who has denied putting in a bid for the player voted Birmingham's player of the year last season upon the club's return to the top flight.
"I can categorically deny that there has been any bid from Everton and I have gone so far as to speak to David Moyes and he has also confirmed this," said Bruce.
"Neither of us has any idea at all where this story appeared from and all people are doing is talking about something that is just unfounded speculation.
Sullivan echoed Bruce's determination to keep Savage at St Andrews. "You can rest assured, Robbie will not be leaving this club," he said.
"We are not Manchester United or Chelsea and every player has his price. If we got a tempting offer we'd have to think about it.
"But that isn't what's happened here and Robbie is such a key performer and a popular individual for us that we're looking to the future with him around.
Savage had fuelled the speculation over his future by revealing there was "no club he would rather join" than Everton.
Savage said: "There's no club I'd rather join. I respect the manager at Everton but the bottom line is I am happy at Birmingham.
"I love the manager and I get on with everyone at the club.
"If Everton want me it's up to them to agree a price with Birmingham but until then I'm happy to stay at St Andrews.
"If Everton do want me it must be because I have had a good season." But while Sullivan wants to hang onto Savage he has ruled out a move for Arsenal striker Francis Jeffers.
He said: "Arsenal want too much money and he's on too much wages. "We've taken Luciano Figueroa instead and the money's gone. Right at the death with the Argentinian we heard Arsenal might do business and we asked them if anything had changed and they said `no'.
