A company director of a Co Clare construction firm has been jailed by the High Court for operating a site that was closed for the second time in months by the National Authority for Occupational Safety and Health.
Mr Jason Madden, a director of Kilkishen Homes Ltd, was jailed by Mr Justice Kelly for safety breaches at the site at Monroe, near Nenagh, Co Tipperary.
The site had been closed down last November on application of the authority and was allowed reopen before Christmas after undertakings were given.
However, a health and safety inspector told Mr Justice Kelly that Kilkishen Homes, which was building houses on the site, had once against displayed a blatant disregard for the health and safety of its employees.
