The establishment of a consultative committee on the heritage of the Burren National Park in Co Clare has been announced by the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, Ms de Valera.
The committee, which includes representatives of local and national groups, is to be chaired by Mr Joe Moran, chairman of the National Treasury Management Agency and former chief executive of the ESB.
The committee is expected to hold its first meeting early in the New Year.
The Burren Action Group, which has opposed Government plans for development at Mullaghmore, is one of six local groups invited to nominate representatives. The others are the Burren National Park Support Association, Comhar Conradh na Boirne, the Corofin and District Development Company, the Kilnaboy Community Development Association and Macra na Feirme (Clare).
