The Chambers of Commerce of Ireland (CCI) today called on all businesses and business people to take personal responsibility to ensure that the country avoids a foot and mouth outbreak.
The CCI's chief executive Mr Simon Nugent said business had a particularly important role to play in avoiding an outbreak.
He called on businesses to consider where they source their supplies and also their travel arrangements.
The CCI has also recommended that any Chamber of Commerce organising St Partick's Day parades should cancel them. Dublin Chamber of Commerce today announced it has cancelled its upcoming trade mission to Glasgow.
