A bust of the late Fianna Fáil minister Frank Aiken will be unveiled at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Iveagh House today.
Mr Aiken had a distinguished 50-year political career and served as Minister for External Affairs between 1951-1954 and 1957-1969.
He was elected Sinn Féin TD for Louth in the 1923 General Election and later became a founding member of Fianna Fáil in 1926.
He was highly regarded for championing the cause of small countries at the United Nations and was a chief proponent of nuclear non-proliferation.

He was the first minister to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty in 1968.
