A number of premises have been searched this morning as part of a Garda operation targeting organised crime in the northwest.
Shortly before 7am, officers from the Criminal Assets Bureau (Cab) supported by gardaí searched 14 locations, including nine houses, four professional offices and one public area.
Gardai said a large quantity of documents, along with computer equipment, was seized. A small boat and three vehicles were also seized and are subject of investigation. No arrests were made nor are any imminent, a Garda spokesman said.
"Operation Golf is a target-driven operation against those engaged in organised and serious crime in the northwest region, centred around Sligo town."
The Garda spokesman said this phase of the operation had now concluded and that searches have been completed.
The investigation is continuing and further details will not be disclosed, the spokesman added.
Ireland's organised crime problem was raised in the Dáil today. Fine Gael TD Bernard Durkan claimed it was growing rapidly.
"Organised crime is not going away. In actual fact, it is accelerating," he said during the Order of Business.
