Thousands of people are expected to line the Liffey tonight for the finale of the reality TV show, Cabin Fever.
The show reaches its climax in a live broadcast from Custom House Quay on RTÉ 1 at 9.30 p.m. where one of the final three contestants Cat, Elaine or Fiona will win the €100,000 prize.
The show saw ten people set off on a voyage in a Tall Ship sailing around the coast of Ireland for eight weeks, competing for the prize of €100,000.
Originally five men and five women set sail, however disaster struck on Friday June 13th when Cabin Fever 1hit the rocks and sank off Tory Island. Fortunately, all the contestants and crew were safe.
A replacement ship, the Johanna Lucretia, was found and the programme relaunched on June 30th from Sligo with two new contestants coming on board to join six members of the original team.
Each week the public voted for their favourite contestant and each week the person with the least votes was eliminated.
While some have estimated that around 30,000 people will line the Liffey to watch the show, Mr Switzer said that the show had not been as popular in Dublin as it was in the rest of the country. He said he hoped for a crowd of around 5,000.
He added that while the show had received some negative criticism in broadsheet newspapers he said that the public were behind the programme.
