The Government is today due to discuss Canadian judge Peter Cory's investigation into alleged collusion involving paramilitaries and either the RUC or the Garda.
It has been reported that Judge Cory has recommended that public inquiries be carried out into a number of controversial killings in the North.
The family of murdered solicitor Mr Pat Finucane is seeking clarity over reports that a formal inquiry into the killing is to be established.
It was reported yesterday that Judge Peter Cory has recommended to the British government that inquiries in to the murders of Mr Finucane, Mr Billy Wright, Ms Rosemary Nelson and Mr Robert Hamill be established. It was also thought that an inquiry into the murders of Lord Justice Gibson and his wife is also recommended to the Irish Government.
According to the BBC, Judge Cory has asked Dublin to hold an inquiry into the murders of two senior RUC officers, Mr Harry Breen and Mr Bob Buchanan
The Government has received two reports on these killings and the British government four, following Judge Cory's investigation into eight murders in six controversial cases involving alleged collusion between the security forces and paramilitary organisations.
The contents of the documents, submitted in October to both governments after 18 months of investigations, were due to be published today. However, it is believed the British government wants the publication delayed.
