The Irish pop band, Boyzone, should publicly denounce hu man-rights abuses in East Timor while on tour in Indonesia, according to Green MEP, Ms Patricia McKenna.
Ms McKenna said she suggested to Boyzone's manager, Mr Louis Walsh, that at least one of the band's shows in Indonesia should be billed as a "Free East Timor" event.
"If Boyzone wishes to play in a military-run country with one of the worst human rights records in the world, it will inevitably become embroiled in politics. Louis Walsh should recall that when artists like Queen, Elton John and even Foster and Allen played in apartheid-torn South Africa, they walked themselves into a major political debate."
