At least 34 people were killed in Cameroon when a bus ploughed into a truck laden with sand while overtaking it on a bend, state radio in the central African country reported today.
The accident happened yesterday near Ngomo, around 60 km (40 miles) from the capital Yaounde, the radio said, adding that Prime Minister Ephraim Inoni had called an emergency cabinet meeting to discuss the crash.
Africa's roads are notorious for serious accidents, in which death tolls are often made worse due to poor roads and overcrowding of old and badly maintained vehicles.
