A SPECIAL presentation was made to Col Ned Campion, chef d'equipe of the Irish Olympic team, at the RDS yesterday, to mark his retirement as officer commanding the Army Equitation School. He has held the position since 1988. The presentation was made in the main ring, after the Kerrygold Grand Prix, by Mr Dermot Forde, chairman of the equestrian committee at the RDS.
Col Campion, who joined the Army in 1955, was posted to the Equitation School in 1957. He made his debut as a rider for Ireland at the RDS in the 1961 Nations' Cup.
