Jennifer Capriati fought back from losing the first set to love to defeat Germany's Anke Huber 0-6 6-3 6-2 and advance to the quarter-finals of the Pilot Pen event in New Haven last night.
Capriati was forced to battle in the second set. Huber held a break point to lead 4-3, but Capriati saved that point with a clumsy overhead, and then broke Huber to love and served out for the set.
She then called for medical attention and had her left leg strapped, explaining afterwards that she had hit herself with a racket and it had begun to swell.
In the final set, Capriati broke to lead 1-0, but had to hold off a total of three break points in her next two service games. Still unable to dominate Capriati eventually broke again to lead 4-1, and that was enough to secure victory.
Fifth seeded Belgian Justine Henin defeated Barbara Schett of Austria to set up a rematch of the Wimbledon final against Venus Williams, and top seed Lindsay Davenport kept on track by reaching the semifinals with a 6-4 6-4 win over sixth seed Amelie Mauresmo of France.
