A man who stole a car and nearly ran over a woman in a wheelchair was sentenced to two years at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court yesterday.
Francis O'Reilly (29), of Jamestown Road, Finglas East, Dublin, pleaded guilty to charges of car theft and reckless driving.
The court heard from Garda Noeleen McKenna that Ms Margaret O'Keefe was on her way home in a battery-operated wheelchair.
She began to panic when she saw a car coming towards her and dived from the wheelchair to the ground.

The vehicle proceeded to smash into the abandoned wheelchair.
