The nuns of a contemplative, enclosed order in Co Carlow have launched a CD for charity.
A Time to Pray - a CD of prayer, music and reflection - was launched yesterday at the Poor Clare Monastery in Graiguecullen, Co Carlow.
The idea for the CD came from Father Liam Lawton, who is a liturgical composer and singer.
Those present included the Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin, Dr Jim Moriarty, and Father Lawton.
Sister John Frances Watson, one of the 12 Poor Clare nuns, said this year marks the centenary of perpetual eucharistic adoration at the monastery. For 24 hours daily throughout the year, there are sisters praying before the blessed sacrament. The Poor Clares will commemorate the 750th anniversary next year of the death of their foundress St Clare in Assisi.
All the proceeds of the CD will go to charity. It can be ordered for €15 (plus €0.70 postage and package) through their website: www.poorclares.homestead.com
