A sectarian gang was blamed today for battering a Catholic man inside his east Belfast home.
Four men dressed in black and armed with sticks confronted the victim when he opened the front door of his house on Jocelyn Street.
He was attacked in the hallway before being dragged into a living room and beaten repeatedly, police said.
The victim suffered broken ribs, severe body bruising, and facial injuries in the 1am assault.

Police said one of the gang may have sustained a hand wound during the beating.
A PSNI spokesman confirmed detectives were treating the attack as sectarian.
