The Ceide Fields Visitor Centre in Ballycastle, Co Mayo, received the Europa Nostra Diploma of Merit yesterday at a ceremony hosted by the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, Ms ile de Valera.
Europa Nostra, an association of non-governmental heritage organisations, presented the award to the Mayo visitor centre for "the challenging construction of an imaginative new building, providing visitor facilities and exhibition space in a unique and sensitive environment".
